Chicken Race

Also known as the “Rubber Chicken Race”
A race and a potluck
An idea hatched of foolishness at the bar one day, the Annual Rubber Chicken Race will be run Saturday September 27th – it’s always a great day of fun and the potluck supper is delish!
Registration is via Club Spot – a link will be made available via the racing registration page.
Schedule:
- 12:10 pm – Skippers’ meeting
- 1:00 pm – First gun
- 4:30 pm – Trophy presentations
- 5:00 pm – Potluck with your fellow AYC friends.
Pre-race and post-race festivities will take place in the Upper Wardroom.
The Race/Potluck Premise
Boats with on-board-cookers can roast a foul during the race (you can give your bird a head start in your home oven earlier, if you wish). Or you can bring whatever you fancy from home: cooked ham, turkey, veggies, casserole, salad, rolls, pie… to add to the potluck meal we will share. We will eat following the race, starting around 5:00 pm at the clubhouse. Cold food can be placed in the club fridge before the race begins, but warm offerings should be brought to the club after the race already heated (if you can) and can be warmed further in the club microwave. Please bring your own paper plates, cutlery, napkins. All members and guests are welcome, no matter if you’re racing or not – just bring some food to share!
Awards
Fabulous Bird Trophies for first, second and third will be awarded following the race, as well as the overall winner will be engraved on His Majesty the Turkey Plate (donated by Susan & Tony Cook), which will remain at AYC.
An additional trophy will be awarded at the discretion of the race committee, to best dressed, noteworthy race incident… Come and share the fun on a (hopefully) beautiful Saturday!
